The use of masthead on the magazine ‘Lordswood photograph’ connotes the genre of the magazine is a media college magazine as shown through the use of ‘photograph.’ The target audience of the magazine is for school students from year 7 to year 11. the mise en scene encoded through the main image as the student is acting is or looks very serious as she is concentrating on the camera. Also the use of costume used of a uniform connotes or helps to show the target audience of the magazine which is for secondary school students. The main image is not heavily made up of make up this signifies that the main aim of the magazine and not a fashion magazine. The use of props of the camera used connotes that the magazine genre which is a media magazine. The main image is also affective as the image has been edited to catch the readers attention and through the use of editing connotes or helps to show the genre of the magazine as some use of media or software has helped the image to be how it is by this.

The use of colours used on the typeface is bold and black but also big this suggests the magazine can easily be identified by the reader of what the title of the magazine is, The use of straplines follow a pattern of the use of colour used with the use of beige on one strapline then a blue colour used which the chosen colours goes well with white background as the straplines stand out. The use of blue font reflects the main image. The main image is the main focus on the magazine as this has been shown through the amount of straplines that are one page which is very little but also the position of them are on the left of the magazine which are separated from the main image. There is only one typeface used on the magazine as this makes the magazine simple and easily readable for the audience but also interesting as there is not a lot of information given at once on the front cover of the magazine. The use of straplines used that contains for example ‘win £100 in the Lordswood photograph competition’ interests the reader o get involved. Also the use of ‘best’ suggests there is no better and which also helps to interest’s the reader. Also the use of ‘new cameras’ is shown to be exclusive and up to date which also helps to interests the audience. There is also a comparison used on the strapline ‘Fujifilm vs.Nilcon’ this adds tension to the reader and also hooks them to wanting to know what the best is. The magazine is also free which also interests the reader.
