This is a mock up to show the outline of my music magazine. As the whole theme of the page is on a new R&B artist. As my double page spread considers a title for the page. An introduction to what the theme of the double page spread is about. My double page spread will also include questions that will be on the new R&B artist ‘Nisha’. I will also include the name of the magazine ‘Rhythm’ on the right hand side of my double page spread.

This is an example of part of my plan to show the content that will be on my double page spread. As the main body of my double page spread as I created questions that I could ask the new R&B artist Nisha as when doing this I had to think about the language I use for my target audience and also thought of appropriate questions for new R&B artist ‘Nisha’. As the main body of my double page spread is on anew R&B artist Nisha making a new success in the music industry. As my double page spread is a interview exclusive with Nisha

This is my final double page spread as part of my ‘Rhythm’ magazine. The whole theme of my double page spread is an interview, which of a new R&B artist ‘Nisha’. This has been shown through my front cover of my magazine as the main image and main strapline is significant, as the main image on my front cover magazine is of ‘Nisha’ and the strapline of ‘new R&B artist talks exclusive’ and also in my content page under the subheading interview the interview with Nisha has been shown on page 7&8. As throughout my front page, content page and double page spread it has looked consistent throughout with the use of same colours and fonts as this helps the reader to easily follow the magazine throughout and also helps the reader to easily identify were the magazine has come from.

The double page spread consists of a title which shows what the theme of the double page spread is about. There are also two stars that are placed next to Nisha as this represents the new R&B artist’s surname which is ‘Nisha Starr’. Also the name of my title ‘introducing Nisha’ I had chosen this as in connotes that the new R&B artist has entered the double page spread and is new. There is also a subtitle which gives an introduction to what the whole page is about is a little more depth. The page also consists of a quote ‘music has changed my life forever’ that is directly said from the image ‘Nisha’ as this directly grabs the readers eye as its almost makes the reader as though it is said in the present tense by Nisha, as this is placed beside the image of Nisha. Below this is a list of questions that can be easily identified with the use of bold yellow font, and below this is the answers of each question which is shown in black font. The layout of the questions and answers which is the main body of the double page spread is spaced between columns as this helps the reader easily identify each question with answers, but also looks neater the double page spread overall, for the reader to look like. The questions that are used on my double page spread are relevant and appropriate questions to ask ‘Nisha’s experience of becoming a new R&B artist and about her career overall as the questions contain this. My double page spread also includes a pug which is placed on the left hand side of the double page spread as this contains information on a prize of winning tickets to Nisha’s concert in May as this reflects the theme of the double page spread of Nisha. There is also an R&B quiz on my double page spread which is positioned at the top right hand corner which shows the quiz R&B artist Nisha did.

I have six original images of ‘Nisha’ on my double page spread which through the images represents I want to show her experience of becoming a new R&B artist which is enjoying her new career. Some of the images the model is looking directly at the reader as this almost grab the reader’s eye to communicate with the images and also read the double page spread. I have taken both long shots and medium shots of the images on my double page spread. At the top right page of the double page spread are three images that I have made created an effect on with frames around the images to make the images look eye catching to the audience. The use of colours used through the use of mise scene used which is encoded through the costume, makeup and props used on the model for my double page spread, with the use of gold, brown and black font colours used throughout the page. My double page spread also includes folios at the bottom of both left and right hand corner of the page, showing the page number and the name of the magazine and website of the magazine. I have also included the name of my magazine ‘Rhythm’ on the right side of the double page spread as this makes the magazine look consistent throughout showing the name of the magazine as the double page spread can easily be identified to what magazine the page belongs to.

This is my content page that is from my magazine ‘Rhythm’ which is an R&B magazine. The content page has a consistent layout through the use of colours I have used, which are brown, yellow and black, which reflect the colours used on my front cover magazine. Also the use of font I have used on the page for example ‘Content’ which reflects the same font I used on my masthead on my front cover magazine which is ‘Rhythm’ as this helps the reader to easily identify what magazine the content page belongs from and also helps the reader to easily follow the page. The content page also anchors some of the straplines used on the front cover magazine for example ‘Ciara’s Comeback’. As the straplines used on the front cover magazine has to also be considered on the content page. The content that is on the contents page also is referenced with page numbers which helps to easily find the page by the reader. The content page is called ‘Rhythm Content’ as this helps to show that it belongs to my front cover of the magazine ‘Rhythm’. The content page also includes visual images of the poeple with the names beside of each image the use of the images, helps to show the genre of the magazine and what type of music genre the content page belongs to as i created a R&B artist look. The images also helps to show what the magazine will include as some of the images on the right hand corner reflect the information on the content page for example Chris Brown and Cheryl Cole. The images I also edited as made a effect on the images creating a frame as this helps the content page look like a real content page. The background of the content page is a plain coloured background, which reflects the colour scheme used on the front page for example used on some of the straplines on my front cover magazine with the use of black and yellow. The content page also includes subtitles that shows the theme of each subtitle which the content that reflects the theme of each subtitle for example ‘Fashion’ which is the subtitle and information that is around fashion.

Through the process of taking the images I thought of the type of shots I was going to take as there is both medium and close up shot used as shown below. I had to also think about the mise en scene when taking my images which is encoded through the costume, lighting, makeup, acting and setting. As the costume used on my original images is a sparkling black dress as this helps the model look fashionable as well as looking like a real R&B artist, which this is the role my model will considered on my throughout my music magazine, content page and double page spread. As also the makeup used on my original images used on the female model also helps her look fashionable but also the colours used of the use of black and gold eye makeup and gold nail polish as this will reflect the colours used on my fonts throughout my music magazine, and double page spread. The setting I used to take my images was I tired to take my images on a plain background as throughout my front page and double page spread the setting will be plain. Also the actions the images are used is on the front cover image the model is looking directly at the audience as well as holding the microphone. The purpose of the main image looking directly at the audience is to engage with the audience and involve the audience to read the magazine, but to also react to the image. Also the other three images that will be used on my double page spread the model is showing to be enjoying her life being a R&B artist as different poisons are used that consists in the images. The prop used is the microphone which is used on the front cover image, as this helps to show and to be easily identified what the theme of the magazine is overall

This is an example of a college content page. The target audience for this content page is 16-18 years of age who attend college. The content page consists of two images, which one is placed at the top of the page as the image is of a college which helps to reflect the genre of the magazine. Also the image at the bottom which shows students as though they are playing a football match, this helps to anchor the subheading ‘Sport’ which shows that the magazine will include a theme of sport. There is also a image of students which anchors the content and genre of the magazine, which being a part of a college magazine. The content page consists of subheadings which show the theme of each section that belongs in detail, what the theme considers in the magazine for example ‘Sport’. The theme is shown on the content page as each section has a colourful contents including, yellow, red ect. This helps to show what the mood of the college is about which the use of colours help to show the mood of the college and magazine which will be fun and an enjoyable time to be at. The use of bright colours used make the content page stands out on a plain white background. The content page is very easy to follow on the page by students.

This is my final front cover music magazine that I have created,. The music genre of my music magazine is R&B. The target audience of my magazine is people who are interested in R&B music or reading R&B magazines but also R&B fans that are female of the age between 16 to 25 of age as this can be shown through the main image of a young female model that looks fashionable. The main image is of a new R&B artist as I thought the role and the purpose of the main image being this as I thought I would use and consider my model to be a new R&B artist as from the feedback of the audience feedback you would conventionally see R&B artists on the page, and as a new magazine and model no one has seen before I though it could be a new R&B artist. The image and main strapline that anchors the main image reflects the music genre of the magazine.

The main image is looking directly at the audience as the main image helps to sell the magazine as the main image looking directly at the audience to purchase the magazine. The use of acting helps the audience react and communicate with the main image. The mise en scene used throughout the image that s encoded through the clothes which is a black sparkling dress. This helps to show the R&B artist is fashionable as the content deals with the theme of this as this is why my targeted at females. However the magazine can be for male audience however it’s more for female audience. the use of the black dress reflects some of the colours used on some of the straplines. For example ‘Ciara comeback’. Also the makeup used on the main image is black and gold eye makeup as this reflects the masthead ‘Rhythm’ and some of the colours used on the straplines. The prop used is the microphone as this helps the audience easily identify what the theme of the magazine is about. Also the jewellery used of the necklace and earrings and bangles as this anchors the colours used throughout the front cover magazine of the used of black, brown and gold colours. The setting used is a plain brown background as I had taken a image of the background separately from the main image. As the used of a plain background helps the main image and conventions on the front cover magazine stand out and eye catching to the audience. The main image is holding a microphone to show she is a singer as well as looking directly at the audience as the effect of this is the artist looking at the audience as this helps sell the magazine.

The colours used on the front cover magazine are brown, black and gold as this contributes to the mood of the image by the artist feeling R&B as the genre of the magazine is this. Also from the evaluation the colours that my family and friends associate with R&B is brown and black which I used the colours as I thought the colours I gave used associate with R&B.

The magazine is called ‘Rhythm’ as I chosen this type of name for my masthead as the meaning of R&B is rhythm. This reflects the content of the magazine as the content considers information of the music genre R&B. also the masthead reflects the target audience as the meaning of R&B is rhythm. There are two types of fonts used as from the feedback from the evaluation I only used two fonts and also from the research of R&B magazines which only consist of two fonts. The typeface used is bold as the effect this has on the magazine is it helps the magazine stand out overall and also eye catching also make makes the magazine look like a real R&B magazine. The copy is posited either side of the main image. The main image is the most important as it anchors the main strapline which can be identified with the font being slightly larger then the rest of the straplines either side. There is a limit of straplines used and copy placed on the magazine as from the evaluation feedback and research of real R&B magazines the main image is the most important and the main image had a big affect in the who of the magazine which I limited the amount of straplines I put on the magazine and made my image effective.

Through some of the strapline I have used persuasive techniques for example alliteration ‘Ciara’s comeback’ however I have not used many persuasive techniques on my front cover magazine as from the research of real R&B magazines they do not consist of persuasive techniques or there may be a limit to it. I have also used ‘new’ which is included within the main strapline as this helps show the information is exclusive and up to date.

My magazine consists of four layers which include the background, the masthead followed by the main image and straplines on either side of the image then the main strapline that is slightly on the main image. There is a repetition of colours used as this helps to establish and unified the cohesive design as it can add a sense of controlled sophistication. As the magazine consists of the colours sued of black, gold repeatedly throughout the magazine. the magazine also consists of a flow as on my magazine ir flows form the main image to the straplines on either side of the main image as magazines always consist of a visual and verbal path of movement and that the readers eye follows through the page.

From the evaluation feedback generally the colours used on R&B magazines family and friends believed that the use of black and brown colours are used. Also the layout is very consistent throughout as from the feedback if the colours are consistent throughout the magazine it helps the target audience follow the magazine easily. I also created a question that would help me deicide in what type of font would be portrayed to be R&B as I would use for my masthead as from the feedback this would now help me in deciding what fonts I would use throughout my music magazine.

Also the font used overall there should only be two font types used throughout the magazine as it would look to crowded on the page and confuse the audience but also make it difficult for the audience to read. Also the main image from the feedback is normally of an R&B artist as the main image on the front cover of the magazine as it would help the audience easily recognize what the music genre of the magazine is. I also considered questions that would relate to R&B music magazine as well as overall a personal questions that will be different for each student on if they read R&B magazines and if so what interest them to read it as this will help me create my music magazine that taking the feedback I can aim to interests my target audience with comments made from family and friends overall.

As part of my media coursework I had to take at least four original images that I have taken myself. The images will be included throughout the music magazine coursework as one of the images will be on my front cover magazine and three of the images will be on my double page spread.

This is a double page spread from the Music R&B magazine ‘Billboard’, as this can be shown through the title of the page ‘Backbeat’ as the style of writing and colours used helps easily recognise this, as the magazine shown through the layout is consistent throughout with the use of repetition of colours and fonts helps the audience recognize the type of magazine it is. At the top of the page introduces the theme of the page is about.

The page consists of there sections of information as the left hand corner of the page consists of a heading and ‘executive timetable’ then a subheading ‘people in the movies’ as then its shown through a image beside the text showing the text reflects the main image. There is also a rule used to separate the headers and subheading from the information below. On the right side of the page it consists of a heading of what the main body is about which is shown below the heading and beside the information is an image which is based on the information shows its real information and the images also look real and people have been presented to be in a certain event.

There is a range of font types used this helps to interest the audience as there is a lot going on through the page. This helps the reader to be interested. The font type used is shown to be repeated throughout the page to signify the title, subtitle ect for example, the main theme of each title consists of the same font type and same font that are bold to highlight the important information. Also the main body of the text the font type is the same as this helps the reader recognize what the information will consist of. The language used throughout the double page spread is bold and precise ‘Backbeat’ this grabs the reader’s attention and the use of alliteration helps to persuade the reader to read the double page spread. Also the main body is easy to understand and simple as this does not confuse or makes it hard for the reader to read. The target audience for the double page spread is for 18-30 years of age. This is shown through the image used as it helps show a older audience.

The colours used on the double page spread are black, red, yellow and blue. As the use of repetition of colours used on the page helps the page look more interesting and helps the audience to easily follow the page and get used to the page easily with the use of repetition of colours. Also the title of the page ‘Backbeat’ with the use of colours reflect the masthead of the font cover as the same font and colours are used, showing the consistent throughout the magazine.

This is part of a double page spread from an R&B magazine ‘Rap Up’. The theme of the page mostly considers a interview of the girl band ‘Eclectik Reds’ The image which is at the top of the magazine anchors the main body or content of the page, as there are questions that the band individually answer. The mise en scene encoded through the use of costume and props helps the girl band look like a real girl group. Through the acting the girls are looking directly as the audience as this helps the reader to read through the double page spread.

The language used throughout the main body which is more specific and detailed information about the subject, as this is also part of the visual qualities of the layout it form, texture and value that the page consists which is of questions and answers are easy to understand by the audience to read, and the answers to each question signify real answers and almost the reader is having a conversation with the girl band. The questions are also personal ‘How did you come together?’ as this helps the reader be interested in what is said. The typeface used is clear and font used is easy top read as each question is bold followed by the answer as this helps to show each different question. There is also space between columns on the text on the left hand side of the page, as this helps the information look more clear and neat to read from.

There is also a ‘pop quiz’ on the bottom right hand corner which anchors the main image of the girl band. As this poison of the quiz is separated from the main body of the double page spread to show the theme is different for the two parts of information as one in the interview and the other is a pop quiz. There is also speech marks used to show that the girl bad is almost talking at the specific moment, when the reader reads the page ‘there out for the world domination’. This almost persuades the reader to follow the page as it is shown to be exclusive.

The main body of the page the text is placed almost to the middle of the page. The speech is placed next to the main image which anchors the speech anchors the main image as this helps the reader understand where the quote is signifying. Also the name of the group ‘Electik Red High Voltage’ is beside the main body of the text of the interview as this connotes the main body anchors the name of the band beside. The name of the magazine is placed at the right top hand side of the image ‘Rap Up’ showing what the magazine is called. The use of colours used on the page reflects the images of the girls therefore the use of pink reflects the feminine colour. Also the use of black anchors the mood of the main image of the girls looking serous reflecting the colour black used on the page within the fonts. The page consists of four font types used on the double page spread then the content and front page of R&B magazines. This shows that the double page spread has to interest the reader and make the page look attractive as the main reason for readers to purchase a magazine is what is inside of the magazine likewise on this specific page. The target audience for this content is for girls the age of 16-25 as the text and the image reflects and interests this specific audience. The page also consists of folios which is ‘Rap Up.Com’ at the bottom left hand corner.

This is a music content page which comes from the music magazine of ‘Vibe’ as shown on the bottom left hand corner. The content page includes a title that is shown to show the theme of the page of ‘Contents’. The main body on the contents page reflects some of the content on the straplines which are included on the content page. As this is important as this helps the magazine consist of a flow easily. The content list is separated in sections showing subheading and contents that involves the theme of the subheading for example ‘departures’ followed by a list of information tat revolves around the theme of departures.

The content page consists of two fonts and colour used is black which reflect the repetition of colour used on the front page which is shown on the bottom right hand corner. The ‘content’ heading is placed on the left top hand corner of the page as this helps the reader follow what the content page involves, as it is next to the main body of the content page in whets inside of the magazine as this helps the flow of movement through the page at it helps the page to easy followed and look at.

The setting of the content page is set on a street which may connote the life the men live, also with male men as one of the men are looking behind this may connote a element of the content page that may be considered inside of the content page. Also a man who is shown through a medium shot through the mise en scene through the acting he looks serious and also through the use of colours used this contributes to the mood of the images as the use of black colour and bold fonts used at times helps to signify the mood of being serious. This also helps to show that the content page is serious and this helps to communicate the message of the content page as the man is looking directly at the reader, which the reader easily communicates and react back to the man as this helps to persuade the reader to read and look at the content page. The main image helps to show the target audience as the front cover and content page as it shows that the target audience is for a male audience of the age of 18-25 years old. The costume the men are wearing is wearing a jeans and a t-shirt which the black t-shirt anchors the font colour used.

There are also rules that are used to separate each different information as it helps to identify by the reader, the new information and this helps to be easily followed by the audience.

This is a example to show a R&B music content page that reflect the magazine V as this can be shown through the contents title that is behind of the V showing the specific name of the magazine which is V.

The typeface is placed mostly on the right hand side of the page. The content page is shown to be in columns with subheadings for instance ‘features’, with the theme followed by in more depth what the content inside involves. There are also two fonts used on the page as this helps the page be easily and simple to look at by the reader. There are black and white font colours used on the page which the colours stand out with each other as this reflects the setting used of the use of black at the top of the page going lighter down the page which to white where the main image of ‘Ciara as the main image helps to rebate to the music genre of Ciara who is a R&B artist. As the content page relates to the magazine of R&B. the main image of Ciara is surrounded by a white setting which signifies she is natural with the use of white background. The sue of long shot used helps to show her sex appeal and helps to attract the make audience but also through the mise en scene which is encoded through the use of costume that the main image looking fashionable with the sue of dress and props used of heels and jewellery, helps to attract the female audience to be inspired by the way she looks, also this also reflects the content that the magazine considers, ‘Fashion’. The main image also helps to show Ciara is consider as part of the content of the, magazine is the poison she is framed as the main image is around the main body of the content page. Rule have also been used to separate the content of each information as this helps to easily recognise each separate information, and also helps the reader to easy follow this.

I have not however considered the right front cover that reflects this specific content page. Although content pages conventionally follow a consistent layout through both the front cover and content page, as this can be shown through the same fonts being used and also use of colour and the straplines on the front page that consists in the content page.

This is a front cover of a college magazine. The masthead King Ed’s reflects the target audience as showing it a college magazine, for students who attend college. The masthead also considers a date as this helps students easily recognise the date quickly on the page. The magazine consist of two font types used as the bold font used show the main information on the magazine and shows the overall theme of what the magazine will consist followed by the information below the subheading, for example ‘Sport’ followed by ‘Olympic hopeful’. The typeface is placed on the right hand corner and on top of the mage. This connotes the main image is the most important on the magazine as the main image helps to portray and communicate the main image of the magazine to the reader, as the image is very effective therefore the straplines do not cover the main image that much on this magazine as the image is effective to the reader.

The genre of the magazine is a college magazine. The target audience for the magazine is for 16-18 years of age who attend college. The main image consist of a male and female student. The main image signifies that the it is a college magazine as it shows two students who look like they are at college having a good time. The mise en scene which is encoded through the costume that the students are wearing, they are dressed casually. The magazine seem to be set at a college in a common room as this helps to portray the genre of the magazine. The use of mid close up shot used helps to portray the effect the actions have on the reader as the students are smiling and cheerful showing how life is at college as it seems to be for fun to be at college and also meet new people likewise the image of a female and male students having a good time.

The colours sued on the magazine are a mixture of colours as the masthead consist of both greens ‘King’ showing the masculine colour which relates to the male student on the front cover and pink on Ed’s’ which associated with feminine colours which reflects the women on the page. This connotes that both male and female students attend the college. Also the colours used on the straplines are white ‘nick love’ also black font is used for example ‘Sport’ which helps to highlight the main theme of each heading. The repetition of colours have been used on the page with the use of black and blue, with the subheadings on the right hand side of the front cover and the use of white font which has also been used repeatedly, but also the use of white font used reflects the costume of the girl of which wearing a white t-shirt. .

The magazine consists of two layers which includes the main image and text on the magazine. the visual and verbal movement that the readers eye follows through the main conventions on the page is the masthead to the main bold white strapline ‘Nick love’ to the straplines on the right hand side of the magazine there is also rules that have been used on the front cover as this helps to separate each different strapline on the page as this helps to easily follow the straplines.
